JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Sales Tax Manager, this position will be responsible for the preparation of sales and use tax returns for multiple states within the US and multiple provinces within Canada. In addition to managing Sales tax audits for all books of business.

Prepare and file indirect tax returns for North America.

File amended returns, refund requests, and handle any tax notices received for corresponding transaction tax returns.

Reconcile tax liability accounts against accounts receivable reports.

Work on assigned indirect tax audits, and work collaboratively with jurisdictions and state audit representatives.

Special projects when necessary.

Prepare registrations with taxing authorities for new sales and use filings, as needed,

Advise management regarding effects of business activities on taxes and on strategies for minimizing tax liability.

Ensures that the organization complies with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other taxing authority required deadlines

Organizes and maintains tax records and conducts tax studies and special projects

Research and resolve tax issues for multiple states and provinces.

General administration, such as office supply management 

Other duties assigned as needed



Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.


Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, and/or 3-5 years related experience in sales tax filings.


Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):

Experience preparing sales and use returns for North America a plus

Computer experience is necessary in Excel, Word, and prior Accounting software.

ERP such as Oracle, Peoplesoft, and tax engine, such as Vertex experience a plus!

Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.

Clear and concise oral and written communication.

Ability to be an effective team member and handle workload timely.

Ability to work independently and meet state-imposed deadlines
