JOB SUMMARY: Provides cross-regional payroll support performing a variety of more complex regionalized payroll functions related to garnishment processing including setups, orders to pay and interrogatories.  Processes related to PTO, vacation and sick plans across all regions.  Assist regional staff with related research requests for various types of PTO, vacation and sick plans including projects to reconcile accruals for client or union plans.  Provides assistance to regional staff as needed with other tasks such as bonus payment processing, direct deposit and pay card setups and assisting with audits.  Assist as needed with union processes including setups and stops, running weekly and monthly reports, employment verifications and W2 requests. Assist management team as needed with training and documenting or updating procedures.  Research and resolve most employee and branch office questions and issues.  Provides quality customer service support to all Branch Offices, Shared Services and Employees.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Enters wage assignment data into payroll system, PeopleSoft in preparation of withholding from wages as well as modifications to existing withholding orders and releases for Child Supports, State Tax Levy’s, Federal Government WRITS, Student Loans and WRITS.  
  • Reviews wages computed and withholding amounts based on wage orders for off-cycle requests and corrects errors to ensure accuracy and compliance of regulations specific to the withholding order.
  • Responds to and answers interrogatories and second answers related to WRITS (garnishments) specific to individual state regulations including correspondence with different agencies as well as attorneys pertaining to court orders and withholding orders.
  • Performs all activities related to the completion of interrogatories, continuing liens and orders to pay for wage assignments. 
  • Assist regional staff as needed with processing monthly vacation reports for payment including review of reports for completeness, preparing input tool for off-cycle check production and follow up with branch offices on discrepancies.
  • Assist regional staff as needed with vacation research requests submitted from field offices by reconciling employee vacation accrual amounts in PeopleSoft against hours worked and plan type.
  • Performs detailed review of all vacation reports submitted for payment for ERISA governed states to ensure compliance.
  • Process Weekly Time Off and PTO reports, reviewing for discrepancies and preparing the weekly Anniversary/Termination payouts. 
  • Review, research and resolve discrepancies related to Time Off and PTO plans to correct accruals and process any required payments.  
  • Assist regional staff during peak season for Bonus requests; reviews for proper field approval and enters data into input tool used for off-cycle check production. 
  • Perform basic and more complex research on regions returned checks for overpayments, duplicate checks or any checks issued in error and handle as appropriate. 
  • Assist other regional staff as needed with direct deposits, pay cards, employment verification, check requests, and W2 requests.
  • Communicates with field offices and associates to respond to questions regarding payroll issues and providing courteous and quality customer service.
  • Assist Supervisor with training and maintaining written procedures for job related functions.
  • Additional duties and or projects including filing as needed and assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Education/Experience: 

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent/GED required
  • Preferred 5+ years of Payroll experience.
  • PeopleSoft HRMS Payroll knowledge a plus.
  • PeopleSoft HRMS reporting experience (PS Query) a plus.
  • Excellent P/C skills (Excel, Word) and 10 key

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mathematical concepts including computation of rates, ratios, percentages, averages and reconciliation.
