Job Description

Reporting into the Vice President of Labor Relations, the Labor Relations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of labor relations and contract administration.  The person in this role generally acts as the subject-matter expert in labor relations issues.  This position will require travel throughout the United States as dictated by union activity, training initiatives, and as additional support to the Vice President of Labor Relations and the company. Travel requirements will fluctuate based on need up to 50% or more as needed. 
The Labor Relations Department is based in Chicago, IL and when not traveling this is primarily a hybrid work from home and/or in the office as needed role. The ideal candidate will be based in Chicago, IL area with the rest of the Labor Relations Department and be able to attend in-person meetings in Chicago as required.

1. Contract Administration/Interpretation 
2. Drafting Proposals & Agreements with a high attention to detail. 
3. Lead, develop and deliver labor relations training programs for managers and supervisors on both a regional and local scale.
4. Consult with managers and supervisors as the subject-matter expert on labor relations issues in support of field or remote human resources and operations managers.
5. Build working relationships both internally with various levels of the organization as well as externally with Union contacts. 
6. Exercise strong judgement, strategic critical thinking, and analytical skills in dealings with internal and external contacts.
7. Eventually serve as chief spokesperson for Securitas during collective bargaining negotiations. 
8. Dispute resolution and assisting in the grievances process.
9. Research various Federal, State, and Local ordinances that may be applicable to collective bargaining negotiations. 
10. Drafting responses to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
11. This role will spend time working independently. Must be a self-starter and show initiative.
12. Additional duties as required. 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources (HR), Business or related field.  
• 3-5 years labor relations experience in a unionized environment preferred.  
• Prior experience in the Security or Property Services related industries is preferred. 
• Familiarity with Labor law including Employment laws and regulations, with a working knowledge of NLRB cases and arbitration processes, and/or prior experience researching laws/regulations/cases, is preferred. 
• Strong familiarity with Labor Relations concepts and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements is required.  
• Experience presenting and effectively communicating to large groups in person and/or remotely is preferred.  
• Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels in the organization. 
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with others. 
• Prior experience multi-tasking several projects at once. 
• Proven experience as an independent self-starter that manages time effectively. 
• Proven experience and background in resolving labor matters including benefits, compensation, and workforce issues.
