JOB SUMMARY:   The IT QA Manager is responsible for IT release/change management & communication, testing, writing test plans, producing test reports, creating test metrics and providing recommendations on automating test strategies based on Business Requirements and Technical Specifications that are set to meet the requirements of Securitas Inc. products and services. This position is responsible for complex projects and works under high levels of responsibility and autonomy.

Position will be located in Westlake Village, CA -OR- Parsippany, NJ

  1. Ability to work independently, as well as with members of development, support and all other departments
  2. Execute and maintain standard corporate practices for software testing
  3. Lead, design, modify, develop and write testing scripts, test plans, produce test reporting, create test metrics and implement software programming applications following established software development life cycles as well as architectural and testing standards  
  4. Lead, direct and coach the efforts of lower IT QA testing personnel on a day-today basis, including responsibility for monitoring work products and projects, measuring progress and directing others in order to reach goals in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws
  5. Demonstrates innovation when evaluating the business implications of technology solutions to support building QA support plans
  6. Serves as primary contact and technical advisor to clients and IT Leadership
  7. Perform feasibility analysis on potential ways of streamlining and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the QA process
  8. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures
  9. Plans, coordinates, and monitors the progress of applications to ensure their ongoing alignment with business goals
  10. Works with the Business and IT Management to plan and coordinate short and long term testing strategy and implementation
  11. Conduct release readiness reviews & work towards making improvements in release process
  12. Serve as a liaison resource for others on the team or partners within other business units  
  13. Manage relationships & coordinate work between different teams at different locations
  14. Participate in quality audits

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience required
  • 6+ years of hands on, manual testing experience in a software testing role for a large company, including test plan and test case creation
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, including: Peoplesoft, Oracle, Workforce Management software, Microsoft SQL, or similar
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Information Technology field, computer systems and industry QA practices & knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Extensive experience with automated testing tools and best practices, ability to use and implement both
  • Excellent organizational, logical, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities to get to the source of problems, think critically regarding possible risk based solutions and establish mitigation plans to reduce recurrence
  • Proven leadership abilities including ability to share knowledge, resolve conflict and create consensus
  • Demonstrated effective leadership & analytical skills, ability to work independently and be able to use extensive independent judgment
  • Ability to work seamlessly within a team as well as manage individual tasks
  • Strong ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities, and appropriately prioritize based upon business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Display the high level of critical thinking in order to weigh alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with the business strategy
  • Ability to react quickly to a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):

  • Successfully participation in 8+ large scale software developments involving significant QA Testing
  • Minimum of 6 years of Leadership experience as a Senior QA Analyst, Senior Automation Tester, or similar
  • Relevant QA Certifications preferred (CSTE, CSQA, ASTE, ASQA, etc…)
  • Familiar with testing & standard business software such as MSOffice: MS Word, Excel, Jira Test flo, Zephyr, etc
  • Has strong organizational time management, and research skills, deals with complexity comfortably, and works quickly without sacrificing quality
  • Possesses strong risk assessment and prioritization skills
  • Strong customer and results orientation.
  • Ability to effectively correspond, present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to be an effective team member and handle project leadership responsibly.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
